1What is it?
Lasers use focused light to treat the skin precisely. Different lasers do different jobs.
A CO2 laser smooths scars from acne, injuries or surgery. A Pico laser breaks down pigment — lightening birthmarks and removing unwanted tattoos.
2Is it right for me?
It may help if:
- You have scars from acne, an accident or surgery
- You have a brown or dark birthmark
- You want an unwanted tattoo removed
3How is it done?
- Dr. Swathi checks your scar, birthmark or tattoo and chooses the right laser.
- Numbing cream is applied to make it comfortable.
- The laser is passed over the area in a short session.
- Sessions are repeated until the best possible result is reached.
4Recovery
- After CO2 laser the skin is red and peels for some days.
- After Pico laser there may be mild redness and small scabs.
- Strict sun protection is needed between sessions.
5Is it safe?
Dr. Swathi plans every procedure to keep risks low. Still, it is good to know the possibilities:
- Possible issues include temporary darkening or lightening of skin, and rarely blistering — careful settings for Indian skin reduce this.
6What affects the cost?
- Size of the area
- Type of laser
- Number of sessions
Consultation: ₹500 — you get a clear, full cost before you decide.
7Other options
- Surgical scar revision for some scars
- Silicone gels and creams
- Choosing not to have treatment
8Common questions
Does laser treatment hurt?
Numbing cream is used, so most people feel only warmth or a snapping sensation.
Can every tattoo be removed?
Most tattoos fade a lot over several sessions. Some colours are harder to remove than black.
Good questions to ask at your consultation:
- Am I a suitable candidate for laser for scars, birthmarks & tattoos?
- What result is realistic for me?
- What will recovery involve, and when can I return to work?
- What is the total cost, including follow-up visits?
