1What is it?
Acne can leave pits and dents in the skin. These happen when bands under the skin pull it down and tissue is lost.
Treatment releases these bands (subcision) and fills the dents with your own fat (fat transfer), often finished with laser to smooth the surface.
2Is it right for me?
It may help if:
- You have pitted or rolling acne scars on the cheeks or temples
- Creams and facials have not improved your scars
- Your face looks hollow where scars are deep
3How is it done?
- Your scar types are assessed — different scars need different treatments. Active acne is controlled first.
- Subcision: a fine needle releases the bands holding the scar down. This is done in the clinic.
- Fat transfer: a small amount of your own fat is collected, purified and placed under the scars. This is done in the operation theatre.
- Laser may be added later to smooth the skin surface.
4Recovery
- Swelling and bruising settle within a week or two.
- Some transferred fat is naturally absorbed, so a repeat session may be advised.
5Is it safe?
Dr. Swathi plans every procedure to keep risks low. Still, it is good to know the possibilities:
- Possible issues include bruising, lumpiness, uneven correction and infection.
6What affects the cost?
- Number and depth of scars
- Subcision alone or with fat transfer and laser
- Number of sessions
Consultation: ₹500 — you get a clear, full cost before you decide.
7Other options
- CO2 laser resurfacing
- Microneedling, peels or fillers
- Choosing not to have treatment
8Common questions
Will my scars disappear completely?
Scars can be improved a lot, but rarely removed completely. The aim is smoother, less noticeable skin.
Why use my own fat?
Your own fat is natural to your body and also improves skin quality in the treated area.
Good questions to ask at your consultation:
- Am I a suitable candidate for acne scar treatment?
- What result is realistic for me?
- What will recovery involve, and when can I return to work?
- What is the total cost, including follow-up visits?
