1What is it?

A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes loose, hanging skin and fat from the lower tummy and tightens stretched tummy muscles.

A mommy makeover combines a tummy tuck with other procedures — such as breast lift or reshaping and liposuction — to restore your shape after having children.

2Is it right for me?

It may help if:

  • You have loose or overhanging tummy skin after pregnancy or major weight loss
  • Your tummy bulges because the muscles have separated
  • You have finished having children and your weight is steady

3How is it done?

  1. Dr. Swathi plans which procedures you need — sometimes a tummy tuck alone, sometimes a combination.
  2. A cut is made low on the tummy, where underwear usually covers it.
  3. Extra skin and fat are removed, and loose tummy muscles are stitched tighter.
  4. For a mommy makeover, breast or liposuction work is done in the same plan where safe.

4Recovery

  • You walk slightly bent for the first days and wear a support binder.
  • You will need help at home for a while, especially with small children. Your personal timeline is discussed in advance.
  • The scar fades slowly over months.

5Is it safe?

Dr. Swathi plans every procedure to keep risks low. Still, it is good to know the possibilities:

  • Possible issues include fluid collection, slow wound healing, infection and numbness of the lower tummy skin.
  • Rarely, blood clots can occur. Smoking increases risks, so stopping beforehand is important.

6What affects the cost?

  • Tummy tuck alone or combined procedures
  • Length of surgery and hospital stay
  • Garments, medicines and follow-up

Consultation: ₹500 — you get a clear, full cost before you decide.

7Other options

  • Liposuction alone, if skin is firm
  • Exercise and physiotherapy for muscle strength
  • Waiting until family planning is complete

8Common questions

Can I have children after a tummy tuck?

Yes, but a later pregnancy can stretch the tummy again, so it is best done after your family is complete.

Is it a way to lose weight?

No. It removes loose skin and tightens muscles. It works best once your weight is steady.

Good questions to ask at your consultation:

  • Am I a suitable candidate for tummy tuck & mommy makeover?
  • What result is realistic for me?
  • What will recovery involve, and when can I return to work?
  • What is the total cost, including follow-up visits?
